Complete 33 piece set of Jean Dassier’s bronze and gold plated “Kings and Queens of England” produced in 1731. This set was inserted in a 12 5/8" hand wrought engraved silver salver at a later time (the design suggests it was probably made in the 19th century). Each medal is 1 5/8" (41mm).
Good news is the set is complete. Most of these medals are sold individually. The condition varies from fine to extra fine. Bad news is that the grading is so low—primarily because the inlaid pieces received more wear than if they had been stored and kept individually.
The Swiss Dassier and his brother, Jacques, were the world best engravers during their time. Selected medals were signed either J. Dassier or J.D.
