This painting is executed by J. F. Long (1910-1989) in 1981. Long was a Mennonite artist, and the majority of his scenes, as in this case, are Lancaster County locations. His style simulates the Grandma Moses imagery. The image is signed l/l JF Long and “Metzner Farm” is written on the back. The frame is 11" x 14" and it further adds to the primitive nature of the work because it was handmade by Long from lumber rescued from the Black Horse Hotel barn which was demolished at its Easton, PA location.
